Holidays in the Grand Massif area
Ski holidays in the Grand Massif:
Set in Haute Savoie between Mont Blanc and the Portes du Soleil, the Grand Massif offers tremendous skiing in the resorts of Flaine, Les Carroz, Samoëns, Morillon and Sixt. The highest part is Flaine which is set in a snow sure bowl. The resorts vary a great deal in terms of atmosphere and architecture - from purpose built Flaine, to the original village of Samoens, the only ski village to be listed as an historical monument. For more ski details see the winter factfile.
winter activities: parapenting, swimming pool, ice skating, ice driving, winter walking trails, cross-country skiing.
Summer holidays in the Grand Massif:
Bordered by the Valleys of the Arve and the Giffre on two sides, the Grand Massif is a good base from which to explore and enjoy the area. Wonderful scenery, extensive walking trails, Lake Geneva, Annecy and Chamonix are good days out from here too.
summer activities: mountain biking, walking, tennis, golf, archery, fishing, parapenting, rafting, swimming.

boarding great off piste, lots of varied terrain, half pipe and snow park in Flaine and other snow parks in Grand Massif area - depending on snow conditions. A few drag lifts on north facing slopes.
family friendly ?
Off The Slope
eating out a small resort, so choice is somewhat limited. Plenty of restaurants doing local specialities - or try the Chalet Bissac on one of their special nights for a great atmosphere in a typical Savoyard setting. In the resort, Chez Pierrot is the best for pizzas, La Perdrix Noire and Chalet Michet both get good reviews.
apres ski limited - the underground Diamant Noir sometimes has live music, shows football matches, and has karaoke and theme nights. The Flying Dutchman is small, but has a friendly and lively atmosphere.
non skiers Indoor swimming pool, natural ice skating rink, walking with snow shoes, ice driving school. Not a great non skiers resort.
