Les Gets is a rare find! It’s one of those few resorts which manages to combine the beauty of an unspoilt, traditional village with the advantages of a purpose-built resort with a vast ski area - the Portes du Soleil.
Five lifts lead you effortlessly into the ski system with the pistes running conveniently into the resort centre. The village has an appealing mixture of old chalets in distinctive Savoyard style and tasteful modern buildings which blend to create a character not always found in French resorts. There is a colourful main street with lots of reasonably priced shops, bars and restaurants, an ice rink and a square which hosts a colourful weekly market. Childrens facilities are excellent and there is a good range of non skiing activities. This is an ideal area for mixed abilities.
Around Les Gets the friendly skiing terrain is perfect for beginners and intermediates to potter about on. Higher up, on the 53 lifts linked with Morzine and regionally in the Portes du Soleil, there is virtually unlimited skiing for the more experienced. Opposite the main Chavannes ski slopes is the smaller Mont Chery area with satisfying long runs and some excellent bumps. A formidable range of skiing is available in the Portes du Soleil system with one well priced pass covering all 13 resorts. With an early start and the help of our ski hosts have a superb day out taking a circular tour via Avoriaz, Switzerland and Chatel before returning home. There is a good variety of reasonably priced mountain restaurants and huts for a leisurely vin chaud or lunch break.
